The Department of Mathematics (DIMA) is at via Dodecaneso 35, 16146 Genova. You can get to DIMA by public transport, as well as by car. However, public transport is strongly suggested.
Train up to Genova Brignole station. Then bus lines 17, 45, 86, 87 from Piazza Brignole. Stop at San Martino if you got line 17, Via Papigliano otherwise. Walk uphill along Via Papigliano, turn right at the end and follow the directions to DIMA. Walk through the bridge and go down the stairs. Finally turn left to the main door of the department.
From Genova Ovest highway exit, take the Sopraelevata Aldo Moro and drive through all of it. At the end, pass the roundabout and go straight on along Corso Italia. After about 1.5 km (count 11 traffic lights from the roundabout) turn left on Via Tommaso Campanella. Now keep left, take Via Guerrazzi at the crossing (parallel to Via Campanella, on your left). Keep going straight across Via Paolo Boselli. At the following crossing, you (must) turn left on Via Pisa, then right on Via Flora (see the directions to DIMA). On the top of Via Flora starts Via Dodecaneso. Drive until you reach the entry barrier. The Sciences building is in front of you and DIMA is at the last doorway.
From Genova Nervi highway exit, take Corso Europa westward. At the first large crossing turn left on Via Carrara. Turn right on Via V Maggio. The street becomes Via dei Mille, then Via Caprera, thus Via Pisa. At the fork keep right and remain on Via Pisa, then turn right on Via Flora (see the directions to DIMA). On the top of Via Flora starts Via Dodecaneso. Drive until you reach the entry barrier. The Sciences building is in front of you and DIMA is at the last doorway.
There is a wide offer of hotels in Genova. Here are some reasonable solutions:
